Brief HIstory of the School

In 1923, our school was established and named the 12th Kinmen Elementary School. In 1947, because of the Sino-Japanese War the school was closed down. In 1946, it was established as a private school named Guan-Shan Elementary School. In 1950, it was renamed Guan-aw National School according to the government order. In 1959, Guan-aw and Ching-yeu were combined to become Guan-yeu National School. In 1966, Guan-yeu was combined with Shi-yuan School. In February 1970, a new school building was established, and it was called Shu-Mei Elementary School.

Wish

 Construct a cultural and educational environmentenforce meticulous education

1.    According to the present situation, we employ the feature of a small school and classes to vigorously fulfill meticulous education, and promote the effect of education

2.    Fully utilizing the facilities in the school, the students can bring their talent and interest into full play.

3.    For the slower learning students, teachers always enforce individual counseling in teaching and to benefit individual education.

4.    Creating a warm and humane educational environment, we hope to cultivate right values in students and the power of judgment, so that they can develop a healthy world view.  Moreover, society will through these future generations become more and more peaceful.

5.    Dedicated to cultivating the students’interest in reading, we keep an abundant stock of books in library, and hope to establish a like-to-read campus.

 Advance folk talent and skill

1.    Fulfill local geography and history education; actively advance traditional folk skill.

2.    Students in“Tiao-Ku Chen”team practice regularly; we also invite some experts to come and direct.

3.    At times joining emulative contests and local performances inside and outside of the school, the students in our school get good feedback.

4.    Inspiring Students’interest in learning new knowledge and skills, has a positive influence for continuing in traditional folk customs.

Principal: Chen Wei Xue

School Managing Philosophy

1.    Enhance glorious Chinese tradition; actively increase and cultivate talents.

2.    Continued emphasis on protection of our environmental climate will cultivate the concept from students’childhood.

3.    Continue the program of excellent performance in physical training, wholeheartedly advocate a sports climate, and push forward the table tennis part.

4.    Publish a school magazine at regular intervals: publish one publication per academic year.

5.    Construct school wishes: To make Shu Mei as a small-but-tidy, small-but-pretty, and small-but-powerful, high quality school. 

6.    Emphasize a team spirit: we should show mutual concern for the people in the same boat.

7.    Reading-Garden of Maple trees in Shu Mei: Push forward the reading climate among teachers and students; make reading a part of one’s life.

8.    During construction of our PP running track: We devoted all our energies to try our best to pursue perfection and maturity..

9.    Strengthen students’daily living education, safety education, and life education.

10. Make up Shu Mei spirit: lean on my own honor, I will try to do my best.

 Educational Affairs

Director of academic affairs : Wang, Pei-Ju

Duty:

1.  Draft plans, schedules, and criterions of educational affairs and student affairs.

2.  Organize and enforce projects in “Curriculum Development Committee ”and each learning region.

3.  Plan, direct, and supervise affairs in teaching environment decoration.

4  Arrange items in school curriculum plans.

5.  Digest school calendar.

6.  Realign and execute funds and budgets in educational administration.

7.  Supervise the teaching in each classroom.

8.  Assemble statistical material items in each academic affair.

Chief of curriculum : Tsai, Shan-Shan

Duty:

1.    Arrange school timetable and daily schedule.

2.    Handle students’ extracurricular activities, including summer knowledge-and-skill activities and remedial teaching activities.

3.    Check the rate of progress in the teaching of teachers, conduct teaching researches, advanced study and the like.

4.    The borrowing of the devices and books; the use of classroom.

5.    Arrange school curriculum plans, allot short-term substitute teachers, and get school calendar moving.

6.    Plan information education, process new students’data, keep file status current, and handle affairs.

7.    Draft the plan of teaching inspection and organize competitions of knowledge and skills.

8.    Collect and report each academic statistical data.

Chief of Students affairs : Chu, Hui-Chun

Duty:

1.    Outside the school teaching, young scouts activities.

2.    Direct students’ independent activities, and school bulletin board publishing.

3.    Mutual exchange activities between city and countryside, the selection of exemplary students.

4.    The living education for students.

5.    Guidance and protection during children’s travel to and from school; traffic safety education, and democratic rights education.

6.    Sanitation and campus environmental education

7.    Nutritional lunch for students, economical recovery of resources.

8.    Physical competitions and sport meets inside and outside of the school.

 Counseling Affairs

Chief of behavior : Kuo, Hsin-Ping

Duty:

1.    The counseling for new students and new transfer students.

2.    Draft “lovely assistants”; train and carry out intensive teaching.

3.    Recruit zealous parents and volunteers to help counsel students.

4.    Select counseling teachers.

5.    Hold counseling meets and individual transfer service.

6.    Small group counseling.

7.    Gender equality education, life education publicity.
